Privacy Policy

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and builds no profile of you. What follows is the short, accurate account of the little that is processed, and the rights you hold over it.

1. Who is responsible

The controller for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG) is:

No Data Protection Officer has been appointed, as the thresholds in Article 37 GDPR are not met. Questions about this policy go to the address above and are answered by me personally.

2. Visiting this site

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc. (88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA), a subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation. When you open a page, your browser necessarily sends technical information to that server, which records it in server log files:

  • your IP address
  • the date and time of the request
  • the page requested and the amount of data transferred
  • your browser type, version and operating system
  • the referring page, where your browser sends one

Purpose and legal basis. This data is processed so that the site can be delivered to you, kept available, and protected against abuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, my legitimate interest in operating a functioning and secure website. It is not combined with other data and is not used to identify you.

Transfer outside the EU. GitHub, Inc. may process this data in the United States. Microsoft Corporation and its subsidiaries are certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission has recognised as providing an adequate level of protection. Retention and further detail are governed by GitHub's own privacy statement at docs.github.com.

3. Fonts

The typefaces on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, a service of Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). To deliver the font files, your browser connects to Google servers, and in doing so transmits your IP address to Google. This happens when the page loads.

Purpose and legal basis. Consistent typography is part of how this site presents its work. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Google may transfer data to the United States; Google LLC is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Google's handling of this data is described at policies.google.com/privacy.

If you would rather this connection did not happen, blocking third-party requests to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com in your browser leaves the site fully readable in your system fonts.

4. Getting in touch

The contact links on this site open your own email client or take you to an external profile. There is no contact form, so nothing is submitted through this website.

If you write to me, I process what you choose to send — your name, your email address, your organisation and the contents of your message — in order to answer you and, where it leads to work, to carry out that work. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for steps taken at your request before or during a contract, and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for ordinary professional correspondence.

Correspondence is kept for as long as the matter is live and afterwards only where a statutory retention period requires it — under Austrian commercial and tax law, generally seven years for records with accounting relevance. Anything outside that is deleted when it is no longer needed.

5. Links to other sites

This site links out to LinkedIn and to the Austrian legal information system. Nothing is transmitted to those services until you click the link, and once you are there, their privacy policies apply rather than this one. There are no embedded feeds, buttons, pixels or players anywhere on this site.

6. Cookies, tracking and analytics

None. This site sets no cookies, uses no local or session storage, runs no analytics or tag manager, and carries no advertising or tracking pixels. No profiling and no automated decision-making within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR takes place.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data held about you (Article 15)
  • have inaccurate data corrected (Article 16)
  • have data erased (Article 17)
  • restrict processing (Article 18)
  • receive your data in a portable, machine-readable form (Article 20)
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests, on grounds relating to your particular situation (Article 21)

To exercise any of these, write to hello@qvantvm.co. There is no charge, and I will respond within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Austria this is the Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna — dsb.gv.at.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy is updated when the site or the law changes. The date at the top of the page always reflects the current version.
